Otto Hahn Medal goes to Marta Florio
MPI-CBG – Marta Florio, PhD student in the Lab of Wieland Huttner, was awarded the Otto Hahn Medal for young researchers in the Max Planck Society. Marta received the award for her work on the gene ARHGAP11B present only in humans and its key role in the expansion of the neocortex and brain evolution.
The award will be presented during the general meeting of the Max Planck Society in Saarbrücken in June.

The Max Planck Society has honored up to 30 young scientists and researchers each year with the Otto Hahn Medal for outstanding scientific achievements since 1978. The award comes with a monetary sum of 7,500 Euros as recognition. The prize is intended to motivate especially gifted junior scientists and researchers to pursue a future university or research career.
